Privacy policy

This policy explains how Parkmydomain Limited collects and uses personal data when you use our website, buy a domain, or sign in to your buyer account. We process data in line with UK data protection law, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. Data controller

Parkmydomain Limited is the data controller for personal data described in this policy. Email: contact@parkmydomain.co.uk.

2. Personal data we collect

Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:

  • Identity and contact: name, email address, billing address, and optional business name provided at checkout.
  • Transaction data: domains purchased, order amounts, payment status, Stripe payment/invoice references, and timestamps.
  • Account and transfer data: email used for buyer login, one-time sign-in codes, Nominet registrar tags you submit for release/transfer, and related support messages in our systems.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, and basic server logs for security and troubleshooting.

Payment card details are collected and processed by Stripe; we do not receive or store your full card number.

3. How we use your data

  • To process orders and provide invoices or receipts via Stripe.
  • To operate the buyer account portal (sign-in, domain list, release requests, archive).
  • To complete or support domain transfers in line with your instructions.
  • To comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations in the United Kingdom.
  • To prevent fraud, secure our systems, and enforce our terms.

4. Lawful bases (UK GDPR)

We rely on:

  • Contract — to perform the sale, account access, and transfer services you request.
  • Legal obligation — for tax, accounting, and regulatory records where applicable.
  • Legitimate interests — to secure our platform, prevent abuse, and improve our service (balanced against your rights).
  • Consent — only where we ask for it explicitly (for example, optional marketing if we offer it in future).

5. Sharing your data

We may share personal data with:

  • Stripe (payment processing and invoicing) — may transfer data outside the UK with appropriate safeguards.
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers that run this website and database.
  • Registries and registrars (such as Nominet for .uk domains) where needed to complete a transfer you request.
  • Professional advisers or authorities when required by law or to protect our legal rights.

We do not sell your personal data.

6. International transfers

Some processors (including Stripe) may process data in the United States or other countries. Where data leaves the UK, we expect appropriate safeguards such as UK adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.

7. Retention

We keep order and account records for as long as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, and meet UK legal and tax retention requirements (often up to six years for financial records). Sign-in codes and short-lived session data are deleted or expire sooner.

8. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you may have the right to:

  • access, rectify, or erase your personal data;
  • restrict or object to certain processing;
  • data portability where applicable;
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
  • lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Contact us at contact@parkmydomain.co.uk to exercise these rights. We may need to verify your identity.

9. Cookies and similar technologies

We use essential session cookies to operate admin and buyer sign-in and to maintain security during checkout. We do not use non-essential analytics or advertising cookies on the public storefront unless we state otherwise on the site. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may prevent sign-in from working.

10. Security

We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data. No online service is completely secure; please use a strong email password and protect access to your inbox used for buyer login.

11. Children

Our services are not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal data.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Significant changes will be posted on this page.
